California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC) created California's state certification board effective September 1, 2009.  The purpose of the board is to assure the general public that a therapist has achieved a level of education and he/she meets the standards required by the State of California to be recognized as a Certified Massage Therapist (CMT).  Anyone practicing massage who is not licensed by the state is not a CMT.  A state certified therapist is free to practice anywhere in the state of California rather than governed by a specific city or county jurisdiction as in past practices.  Be confident your in safe hands.  Check to see if your therapist is certified by the State of California go to www.camtc.org.
